Exam data for schools in England is provided by the Department for Education and Skills.

Inspection summaries and reports are derived from the Office for Standards in Education (Ofsted), in England; Estyn, in Wales; HM Inspectorate of Education, in Scotland; and the Department of Education Northern Ireland. For independent schools, reports are derived from the Independent Schools Inspectorate.

In the autumn of 2006, Schoolsnet became the only website in the United Kingdom that enables parents to write their own reviews of every school in the country. And in January 2007, it became the first online community specifically for parents.

Every year, Schoolsnet provides information to The Sunday Times for its much-praised Parent Power CD-ROM; the last publication was on November 19 2006.

In addition to the schools guide, Schoolsnet provides high-quality online curriculum content, for use by teachers and pupils:

  • Primary lessons: Hundreds of lesson plans for primary teachers;
  • Secondary lessons: Online lessons for use by pupils aged 14 to 16, as well as by their teachers;
  • GCSE revision: Engaging and interactive revision aids to help students succeed at GCSE.
